On July in 1996 a sheep Dolly was born. Only it wasn’t born as any other regulat sheep, but at a tiny biotechnological company in Edinburgh Scotland. Where scientists cloned an ordinary sheep and made an identical copy of the animal. Just like that Dolly became the most famous sheep in the world.

That was a huge step ahead in molecular biology but it also raised controversies on wheather cloning is the right thing and maybe is should be stopped for moral, religios and ethical reasons.

People in the world devided into two groups those who support and those who do not.

When most people think of cloning they think of the worst. Media brought up only facts against the cloning/ today has only filled their head with made up stories and science fiction novels that will make people scared of something they know nothing about. When people think of human cloning they think of little Hitlers running around causing wars and killing people. They are only told the worst of what could happen and not the benefits that we could receive from cloning humans and animals, and there are many. I personally believe in cloning to benefit humans and animals alike.

I am going to try to bring some valid reasons why should scientists continue exploring.

On of them is a medical reason.

Cloning can be the sourse of finding cures for many of the worlds most threatening deseases. Cloning can be used for getting organs transplants for human beings when they need it. A lot of people will be cured once scientist learn how to identify and remove certain genes that threaten their health Cloning is already used in all kinds of research. People clone genes everyday to produce new drug products. Why some peoples fate to die just because others think it is unethical and should be banned when they can be saved in the future once the research continues.

Another treatment with cloning is to help those who cant have children. Or is it unethical too. Infertility is caused by genetic defects, injuries to the reproductive organs, congenital defects and exposure to toxic substances and rays. Cloning technology offers a higher success in having a child. Most people are sterile because they cant produce feasible gametes. Cloning techniques wouldn’t require viable sperm or egg, any body cell would do. Cloning technology can only produce a cloned embryo. The embryo must develop in a uterus, then the developed child must experience childhood and adolescence. The clone will be identical physically not behaviorally to its donor. Cloning techniques are already in use today, its called Invitro. This procedure is done by taking a sperm, an egg and putting them together in a dish and waiting until they start to develop and place them back into the donor’s body. This technology is to get around faulty gametes and allow infertile people to have their own biological children.

Another reason are the scientists.

They are smart people. No ban can stop some of them to refuse doing research on cloning And there are thousands of private companies that that are willing to pay those scientists for continuing research. They will make a lab with the needed equipment somewhere in the island in the pacific. And there, things can get out of control. ON some deserted island where half human half monkeys will be flying around.

The federal government should control, not ban, human cloning. We should understand more about what we are trying to do and not what might happen. Even if the federal government doesnt like or condone human cloning, there are fanatic biologists are going to continue their research. Wouldnt you rather the government watch over different programs instead of people who aren’t being watched doing whatever they want?

In all We must believe cloning can have more benefits than cost. And I know that most do believe fully that the pros totally out weigh the consequences that would come from human cloning. Banning cloning would deprive many beneficial treatments from people who need it. I have only discussed a few of cloning technology’s significant benefits. With everything that we have and will acquire there will always be the bad that comes with them, but we have to take the bad with the good if we are to succeed in this life and the next.
